Deadline Is Approaching To Register For Taping Of MPT's "Chesapeake Collectibles"

Series Features Memorabilia From Collectors Throughout The Chesapeake Bay Region

July 28, 2016

The registration deadline for participants in the Saturday and Sunday, Aug 20 and 21, taping for season seven of Maryland Public Television’s (MPT) series “Chesapeake Collectibles” is rapidly approaching. The final day to register to have personal items considered for evaluation for upcoming episodes during the series’ new season will be Monday, Aug. 8. Two registration options are available for interested participants. Details are available at www.chesapeakecollectibles.com.
The production will be shot on location for a third year at the Turf Valley Resort in Howard County. Attendees are required to register in advance. Walk-ins are not permitted.
Chesapeake Collectibles features antiques and memorabilia from all over the world brought to the set by collectors. The series’ appeal stems from the uniqueness of many of the heirlooms and the stories surrounding the items. More than 20 certified appraisers will provide expert oral evaluations at the “Chesapeake Collectibles” taping event.
Heirlooms selected for last season’s taping included an unusual Marquis diamond ring, a rare Boy Scout Jamboree poster painted by Norman Rockwell, documents signed by the Duke of Russia, an 1820s Kentucky pistol, a vase by Pablo Picasso, pre-Civil War slave documents, and a baseball signed by Jackie Robinson and Branch Rickey. Each season, approximately 100 out of more than 1,000 items that come through the “Chesapeake Collectibles” studio for evaluation appear in episodes of the 13-part series.
Season seven of “Chesapeake Collectibles” will premiere in January 2017. The series airs on Thursdays at 8 p.m. on MPT-HD and is rebroadcast on Saturdays at 10 p.m. Each episode also airs on MPT2-HD, on Saturdays at 7 p.m.
Major funding for season seven of “Chesapeake Collectibles” is provided by Turf Valley Resort and Alex Cooper Auctioneers Inc.
