Locati LLC Held Two Successful Sales In September

October 20, 2016

Locati LLC of Maple Glen, Pa., held two sales in September. The first was comprised of material from several estates and collections and was the largest in the company's history with over 830 lots. Highlights included a Chinese rosewood and porcelain screen, which realized $1,200; a 1776 English map that indicated the various sites of the Revolutionary War, which brought $1,100; and a Navajo Sterling and turquoise necklace, which sold for $2,100.
Locati LLC also presented a special sale of the contents of 1910 Rittenhouse Square in Philadelphia. "We decided the best approach for this sale was to leave the items in situ," said co-owner Michael Locati. The on-site preview was well-attended, and strong bidding was seen for the 150 lots of furniture, fine art, and decorative items. Highlights from that sale included a large oil-on-canvas by Herbert Arnould Olivier (British, 1861-1952), which was estimated at $10,000 to $12,000 and sold for $9,250. A Louis XVI style cabinet sold for $3,100, and a Classical period American mahogany card table sold for $2,100. Both sales had a registration of over 3,500 bidders from over 60 countries. The Rittenhouse Square auction had a 100 percent sell rate, and the September online estate sale sold over 82 percent of the lots offered. The photos showcase a broad variety of what sold.
