Results From Swann's Vintage Posters Sale

August 24, 2015

Swann Galleries held a vintage poster auction on Aug. 5, which was highlighted by Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec’s “Confetti” from 1894, selling for $60,000 to a private collector. The sale total was $715,085 (including buyer's premium).
"This was Swann's largest poster auction ever, and by lot it was almost 40 percent larger than our previous largest sale. Dealers, institutions and collectors turned out in great numbers to participate, and the results, with a 70 percent sell-through rate, indicate that the market is robust and that no one slows down their 'art activity' in the summer. Stronger online participation further heralds the slow but steady transition of auction participants to the online world,” said Nicholas D. Lowry, Swann president and poster department director.
