“Advertising As Art: 1930-1976” At Anne Smith Antiques

“Advertising as Art” is the theme of the new exhibition at the Anne Smith Gallery in Baltimore, Maryland, January 7 through March 20.

Featured are 1940’s circus posters and museum posters, including an early one for a Henri Matisse exhibition, and another, “The Cat in American Folk Art” at the Museum of American Folk art - 1976. A variety of works on paper advertising various products will also be shown, along with tins, crates and other items with advertising. These items were the norm before the era of radio and television.

An Antique Toy Museum, Antiques Shop and Antique Framing Studio are also on the premises. Anne Smith Antiques is located at 222 West Read Street, 12 blocks north of the Inner Harbor.
