Vintage Kitchenware dealers and collectors can rejoice. The revised and expanded third edition of the one authoritative book of the colorful tumblers once used to hold peanut butter is here. More than 150 additional glasses are new to this edition, and updated values are assigned throughout the 150-plus page book. This is a must-own for buying or selling peanut butter glasses.
Author Barbara Mauzy and her husband Jim are dealers, collectors, and enthusiasts in Depression Glass, Fire-King, Bakelite, and anything related to the 1920's - 1950's kitchen. Referencing collectors, Mauzy humorously refers to her book as “The book you love to hate and hate to love.” By way of explanation, she adds, “Just when you think you’ve found all the glasses that are out there, here comes even more!” This book focuses primarily on the lovely flowered tumblers that held Boscul Peanut Butter, as these are the tumblers most collected. The William Scull Company, Inc. of Camden, New Jersey, distributed this product in the 1950’s.
This is a fun, user-friendly and easy-to-transport volume. Glasses are presented in alphabetical order by type, and, when appropriate, two views of each tumbler are shown. Check-off boxes help readers organize and manage their collection, and current values reflect the ease or difficulty to be expected in obtaining each glass.
