The Ice Screamers is a national organization of ice cream parlor and soda fountain memorabilia collectors. The group will hold its 37th annual convention at the Crown Plaza Hotel in Reading, Pa., on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, July 25, 26, and 27. Ice cream has a special place in American culture, and the Ice Screamers focus on the nostalgia and cultural history of this treat along with associated collectibles.
37th Annual Ice Screamers Convention Slated For July 25, 26, And 27
In Association With Antique Advertising Association Of America, Event Will Take Place In Reading, Pa.
The convention will take place along with the Antique Advertising Association of Americas convention, also known as QUAD A. This will provide a unique opportunity for attendees of both events. There will be display and sale tables along with exhibits of authentic ice cream memorabilia, as well as seminars on a variety of subjects.
This year, the group is celebrating advertising trays used by old soda fountain businesses. Another highlight will be marking 100 years of frozen custard at the shore.
Membership to the Ice Screamers is $20 per year, and members receive a quarterly publication featuring articles on an array of ice cream related topics such as scoops and dippers, molds, straw holders, valentines, ephemera, advertising, and every other ice cream or soda fountain collectible. Membership comes with one free ad in the groups newletter and admission to the annual convention.
There will be a special free-of-charge day for the public to attend the convention on Friday, July 26, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., which, of course, includes one free ice cream.
