Florida Fall Show At Antique Alley

October 24, 2012

Late fall is such a great time for outdoor shows in Florida! Bright sunshine sparkles on crystal and polished wood and there’s a welcome hint of coolness in the air. Twice a year there’s a one-day outdoor show at Antique Alley in Florida’s trendy Belleair Bluffs, and the next one is slated for November 11. The show, held at the popular antiquing destination at 580 Indian Rocks Road, always draws a happy crowd of dealers and shoppers.
Upwards of fifty dealers will offer their wares on tables spread out along the broad pathways between Antique Alley’s permanent shops. Some of the area’s best known dealers are regulars at these well attended events and there are usually a few newcomers too.
The Sunday show, which runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. will feature art, furniture porcelain, pottery, glass, books, silver, vintage clothing and accessories, toys and antique and estate jewelry. The wide array of items includes merchandise with prices ranging from a few dollars to several hundreds. Food vendors are on hand too, offering tasty snacks and beverages.
Show coordinator Laura Collum offers a few tips for shoppers attending outdoor shows.
• Carry small bills, especially if you arrive early when dealers may not have a great deal of change.
• Wear sunscreen. Even a cool day in Florida can produce a painful sunburn.
• Wear comfortable shoes especially at the big shows. Ground is often uneven. Not made for high heels!
• It’s a good idea to carry your own canvas bag and even some tissue or newspaper. Not all dealers are prepared to wrap purchases.
