October 12, 2018

Native Americans are often known as great story-tellers. Their artistry is a way of story-telling, a way of sharing heritage, a way of passing on legacy, and a way to document the moments of their lives.
Hess Auction Group will be auctioning off a vast collection of Native American art and artifacts of various age on Saturday, Oct. 20, at its Conestoga Gallery, located at 768 Graystone Road in Manheim, Pa. Items will be available for preview on Friday, Oct. 19, from 1 to 4 p.m., with the auction itself beginning promptly at 9 a.m. on Saturday. Bidding is also available online at Live Auctioneers.
The majority of the items in this sale belonged to the late Jeffrey Graybill, who was a life-long student of native cultures. He amassed a grouping of stone artifacts, textiles, basketry, and ceramics from the North, South, and Central America regions. The large array of articles also has representative items from ancient Mayan and other pre-Columbian people. Numerous examples of beadwork, stone implements, and historic basketry are included in the auction.
