Pook & Pook Inc. And Stuart Kingston Jewelers Hold Fine Jewelry Auction In Greenville, Del.

June 22, 2018

Pook & Pook Inc. and partner Stuart Kingston Jewelers hosted another successful Fine Jewelry Auction on the evening of May 11, in tax-free Greenville, Del. The auction marked the third such joint venture, with a fourth auction to occur this fall.
The sale occurred at the beginning of Mother’s Day weekend, and a few buyers no doubt had their mothers in mind as they competed to be the top bidder on sophisticated bracelets, stunning cocktail rings, and glittering brooches. Many lots surpassed their high estimates, and it seemed that nearly every in-house bidder at Stuart Kingston’s Greenville location went home happy, clutching a new piece to add to their collections. Bidding also took place online via www.bidsquare.com and on the phone. Overall, 169 bidders were registered for the sale. The auction grossed $324,706.
Eye-catching diamonds, rubies, emeralds, and sapphires seemed to steal the show. Many of the top-grossing lots included one or more of these precious gems. The top-most selling lot was a show-stopping 3.22-carat pear-shaped diamond in a platinum setting, ultimately selling for a price of $39,040. The other jaw-dropping diamond in the sale was an un-mounted 4.44-carat brilliant cut round diamond, with one lucky bidder spending $29,280 to take it home. Diamond rings set in platinum were bountiful, with one two-carat example in an Art Deco setting earning $7,320 early in the sale, and a similar Art Deco diamond and sapphire piece selling shortly after for $6,710. Timeless classics, including a simple, yet stunning three-row diamond necklace, achieved $15,860, while other wardrobe staples, including an alluring tennis bracelet, sold for $5,856.
Items with designer names also proved to be top sellers of the night, including a hefty gold Gucci link necklace selling for $2,928 and a Tiffany & Co. moonstone flower pin achieving $1,952. A quartz, coral, and shell statement necklace by Robert Goossens, a French designer who worked with Coco Chanel and Karl Lagerfeld, nearly quadrupled its high estimate to earn $3,904.
