South Jersey Auction by Babington Auction Inc., located at 26 Repaupo Station Road, Swedesboro, N.J., holds sales every other Sunday beginning at 8:30 a.m. and routinely sell thousands of items per sale. Doors open at 8 a.m., and dealers and collectors know just about anything may be found.
On Aug. 25, Robert Babington, auctioneer and owner, plowed through 4,000-plus lots in a full sale that featured an array of local estate material from a Yamaha baby grand piano ($2,500) to a pair of porcelain Foo dogs ($550). A Texaco Fire Chief gas pump went for $800, and a Henkel Harris mahogany secretary with bookcase top, $950. The photos and captions tell more of the story.
