The Fishersville/Shenandoah Antiques Expo: An Enduring Tradition

Spring Edition Set For May 18, 19 And 20

March 23, 2018

Thirty plus years ago, Sam and Mary Ferguson, along with Ray and Martha Stokes, both antique dealers, came together as partners to form Heritage Promotions, and from that partnership, the Shenandoah Antiques Expo was born. Through the ups and downs of the antiques business over the years, this show has not only survived, but it has thrived and remains one of the strongest and most popular antique shows on the East Coast.
The 62nd Fishersville/Shenandoah Antiques Expo will be held where it all started over 30 years ago at the Augusta Expo (I-64, Exit 91) in Fishersville, Va., Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, May 18, 19, and 20.
Well-known and respected by dealers and antique aficionados as a show of enduring quality encompassing diverse interests in all types and periods of antiques and intriguing collectibles, the upcoming 62nd edition of the show promises to be another jam-packed opportunity for serious and novice collectors to seek out treasures. Showcased will be everything from 18th- and 19th-century English and American antiques to country Americana pieces, jewelry, glassware, pottery, and many other quality antiques, as well as an expansive range of interesting and hard-to-find collectibles.
The Shenandoah Expo attracts over 300 exhibitors that come not only from Virginia and neighboring states, but also from New England and elsewhere. Many are attracted by Heritage PromotionsÂ’ expansive advertising in the trade publications, but many are lured through word-of-mouth testimonies about the show. And thousands of buyers attend the show from the region, many traveling extensive distances to shop the show. Locals and seasoned vendors all recognize the show as one of the premier events in the Shenandoah Valley.
"I just found the atmosphere in Fishersville is like an extended family," said one exhibiting dealer.
"This show has something for everyone. How did I not find it sooner?,” stated a customer at the fall edition.
The show runs from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on May 18, and buyers will begin lining up well before the gates open. For a $10 three-day pass, these early treasure hunters can grab the opportunity for the first look at the show's many offerings and then return Saturday and Sunday, hoping to find even more bargains and interesting finds. Hundreds of indoor and outdoor exhibitors will be set up throughout the weekend. The show makes for a great day trip or weekend getaway.
Show hours are also 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on May 19 and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on May 20. Admission on day two and three is $5.
The Augusta Expo is located at 277 Expo Road, Fishersville, Va. For directions during the show, call 540-337-2552.
