Walter Emerson Baum Painting Sells For $3,200 At Locati Online Sale

April 20, 2018

Locati LLC of Maple Glen, Pa., presented its March online sale from March 5 to 19. The auction included fresh-to-the-market estate jewelry, including Victorian and Art Deco examples, among which were two vintage diamond rings that sold together for $1,000, and a French enameled jewelry box realized $800. Two American gold and gold-filled pocket watches sold for $1,200.
A rare Miro color lithograph, "Le Lezard aux Plumes d'Or," sold well at $2,900. Only 50 impressions of this lithograph were created, and this example was numbered 14/50. Pieces that had local appeal included an oil-on-masonite painting of an Allentown, Pa., street scene by Walter Emerson Baum (1884-1956), which sold for $3,200.
“This sale had some nice surprises, including a good French jewelry casket and an Albrecht Durer etching,” said Michael Locati.
Locati offers free Saturday appraisals at its Maple Glen, Pa., facility, where it also offers on-site previews. "Although all bidding takes place online, we enjoy meeting local bidders at our Saturday preview events,” said Locati.
