Pick A Pearl At The Emporium

June 8, 2015

One of the birthstones for the month of June is the pearl. Through the ages, the pearl has been associated with royalty. In a portrait of Mary Queen of Scots, a necklace of black pearls adorned her neck and went down to her waist. Her half-sister, Queen Elizabeth I of England, was always depicted with white pearls in her hair and pearls sewn into her elaborate gowns. These are natural pearls, which can command six figures in today's marketplace. Most of the pearls today are cultured pearls produced in China on freshwater pearl farms.
During the month of June, the Historic Burlington Antique and Art Emporium is offering a “Pick A Pearl” promotion. With a purchase, customers have an opportunity to receive a store gift certificate, a dealer discount, or a tasty treat.
The Emporium display case will also have items associated with the Jersey shore and pearls.
The Emporium courtyard has opened and is filled with unusual flowers, garden furniture and other treasures hand-picked by the co-op’s dealers.
For shoppers’ convenience, the Emporium is open seven days a week from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., with extended hours until 7 p.m. each Thursday.
The coffee is always on, and there are complimentary snacks.
