A Nostalgic Collectible Exhibit Focusing On Camden County, N.J.

By Karl Pass - May 15, 2026

The Haddon Heights Antiques Center is situated in the heart of suburban Camden County, so its only fitting that one of the centers special sales display should focus on antique and vintage objects and ephemera from, not only the city of Camden, but the county as a whole since their histories are very much intertwined. What is now the city of Camden, N.J., was settled in 1681 by Quaker William Cooper, who was soon joined by other Quaker families who established farms and other businesses on the land that was directly across the Delaware River from Philadelphia. Soon ferries connected the two cities, but it took until the 20th century (1926) before the Ben Franklin Bridge made it easy for commuters. Camden was a booming industrial hub in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, with large companies like Campbells Soup, RCA Victor, Esterbrook Pens, and New York Shipbuilding employing thousands of area residents. In the sales display, shoppers will find Campbell Soup cups and bowls, advertising, and memorabilia featuring the Campbell Kids. From RCA, there are also advertising items, figures of Nipper, the canine symbol of the company, and a unique set of Art Deco letters. There will be Esterbrook pen nibs, a Green Valley Dairy milk bottle and the menu from one of the Green Valley restaurants, all for sale. Camden County is home to the Pine Valley Golf Club, a private golf course that is currently ranked number one on Golf Digests Americas 100 Greatest Golf Courses. In the sales display, there is a baseball cap from the course as well as a complete set of vintage postcards that show every one of the challenging holes. It would make a great gift item for a golfer. Camden County was also home to several entertainment venues that were well regarded in their time, including the Latin Casino and the Garden State Park racetrack. Throughout the case there are various little vintage advertising items, postcards, programs and the like relating to these businesses, and others. A portion of the special display is also devoted to photos and yearbooks, even report cards, from various Camden County school districts. Many people throughout South Jersey and beyond can trace their roots back to Camden and Camden County. This sales display is all about nostalgia and making connections with the past, which, of course, is what collecting and appreciating old and vintage things is all about. The Haddon Heights Antiques Center has been an integral part of the Camden County antiques scene for over three decades. Come see why so many new customers are stunned by its size and scope and generous discount policy. Come see why previous customers return time after time, too. Located at 531 Clements Bridge Road in Barrington, N.J., just off I-295 and the White Horse Pike, the store is open seven days a week from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., with extended hours on Friday evenings. Call 856-546-0555 for directions or more information.
