Kyle's barn studio produced a trove of never-before-offered works from the 1950s and ‘60s. The artwork includes oils, watercolors, sketches, mixed media and sculpture. Notable are abstracts and portraits by Kyle and her sister-in-law, Iris P. Sukoneck (Pat Steir). Also found were metal works and drawings by Kyle's brother, Merle Steir. Shelves of art pottery, pottery making equipment and other interesting items were in the studio.
In addition to the 200-plus lots of artwork, there are many other noteworthy items, including a Steinway & Sons Model "O" baby grand piano, a Gustav Stickley bookcase, a Dutch cupboard, Meissen dinnerware, sterling silver, gold and silver jewelry, Dunbar tables, a George Ohr mug, a Higby Art pottery bowl, photo album with Abraham Lincoln, and much more.
A preview will be held on Friday, June 29, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at 1175 Bush Road, Cresco, Pa. Internet bidding will be facilitated by Liveauctioneers.com.
