Locati LLC of Maple Glen, Pa., presented its September online-only sale from Sept. 4 to 17 and consisted of over 700 lots. A wide range of material from unusual Chinese porcelain to fine art brought higher than expected results.
"Once in a while we offer something for the first time,” said owner Michael Locati. “This was the case with a small meteorite collection that surpassed our expectations and realized $5,050.”
Among other highlights included a Chiura Obata (Japanese/American 1885-1975) watercolor-on-silk, which realized $2,900; a walnut coffee table by Mira Nakashima, selling for $2,900; and a Japanese cast-iron and mixed metal teapot collection that brought in a combined $20,000.
“We were excited to offer the terrific collection of Japanese cast-iron teapots from a Virginia collection,” said Locati. “This is an esoteric area, and we were happy that bidders recognized their value."
