Locati LLC, located in Pineville, Pa., concluded its April online auction on April 16 at noon. "This was another good sale with a diverse offering of quality lots," concluded co-owner Michael Locati. Included in this sale was a Tiffany Studios hanging fixture, which sold for $6,000, hammer price. "Although many 19th-century academic landscapes are selling poorly in this market, modern works like the one we offered by Anne Packard are sought after," noted Locati. The Anne Packard oil-on-board painting outperformed the estimate of $500 to $1,000 and sold for $2,600. A Kazak rug with an estimate of $100-$500 hammered for $1,300.
The leading lot was a set of four color lithographs by Spanish artist Salvador Dali. Dali’s “Playing Cards” sold for $14,000. The lithographs' estimated value was set at $10,000 to $15,000. "We were happy to see the Dali prints sell at the higher end of our estimate," furthered Locati. In the late 1960s, Salvador Dalí partnered with a French printing firm to produce 17 designs released as limited-edition playing cards. With buyer’s premium, they realized $17,500.
Locati hosts monthly online auctions and conducts complimentary appraisals of antiques every Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Their facility is located at 761 Durham Road, Pineville, Pa.
