Tydol Double-Sided Porcelain Sign Sells For $5,130
June 10, 2022
Kimberly K Auction LLC presented another great Automobilia Auction on the grounds at Jakes Flea Market in Barto, Pa., on April 30. Two auctioneers sold simultaneously all day, and bidding was spirited and energetic over many things. The items consisted of several collections, a large portion from an Allentown estate. There is more still waiting to be sold from this estate, said Kim Douglass, owner of Kimberly K Auction. The company will hold an online auction for the remainder in the near future. It will consist of classic automobiles, parts, tools, and more. The April 30 auction was highlighted with many double-sided porcelain and tin signs as well as a quality mixture of early speed equipment and race car memorabilia. Tydol and Sinclair five-foot diameter signs realized $5,130 and $1,870. A small AC drop-down sign with flange, in excellent condition, sold for $1,650. A large Atlantic sign with frame sold for $2,215 while a smaller Atlantic floor sign on a metal base brought $1,760. A framed Phillips 66 sign fetched $3,190. A nice-looking display piece, a Pepsi-Cola sign, brought $522, and a Prestone anti-freeze thermometer soared to $495. Drawing interest was a mix of early auto literature, advertising tins, posters, metal signs, 1950s, 60s, and 70s local stock car racing pictures, trophies, and blueprints for V-8 60 midgets. The most unusual item with spirited bidding was a Clown Fooey Face license topper that sold for $1,457. One of the several Pennsylvania inspection signs brought $385, and an oval Ford sign on bracket went for $1,136. Oil cans are always popular items, and a Fleetwood one-gallon can with an airplane decoration ended at $300. Also offered were a variety of wall clocks that included a Pennzoil clock selling for $1,045 and a Gulf Tires clock at $550. An unusual mix of Harley Davidson and other motorcycle items proved collectible. A new/old stock 90th anniversary Harley Davidson Snap On toolbox sold for $1,166. A Bell helmet and cap sold for $553, and a pair of early Howard Aluminum heads sold for $440. Kimberly K Auction holds live and online auctions, including several Automobilia, Sign and Advertising auctions, throughout the year. It was exciting to have a live auction again among all of the online estate auctions. It is wonderful to see all the faces, see old friends and meet new people at these live events, mentioned Douglas. The live auctions are fun, and I appreciate all of the buyers who set aside their day to come out to the auction. I have such a good team working with me, and I love seeing it all come together to create a successful sale. All prices reported include a buyers premium.
