Firearms, Coins, And Real Estate Fuel Sales
September 03, 2021
The week beginning on July 19 brought notable strong hammer prices for Alderfer Auction, as three anticipated auctions realized over $2 million. The week began with the sale of a multiple parcel commercial property in Conshohocken, Pa. Prospective bidders gathered in-person and on the phones to watch the multi-parcel choice bidding unfold. Buyers took advantage of the investment opportunity to bid on an apartment complex, garage/storage and land tracts. Reach out to Alderfers Hatfield office to learn more about this sale. Sparking international interest, the week continued with a firearm collection spanning 300 years from pre-Revolutionary War to present day items. Registered buyers were successful throughout North America and also Sweden and France. Meticulous and rare finds included a Browning Citori superlight over/under grade 6 shotgun, which brought $4,000; a scarce Colt-Sharps Arms Co. Borchardt falling block single shot rifle, $3,180; and a Johnson Automatics Model 1941 semi-automatic rifle, which realized $5,100. The week wrapped up with a fresh-to-market, single owner coin collection. The seller started to collect proof sets in the 1930s, and they remained preserved and protected. This is the finest, most pristine collection I have seen in my tenure, stated the companys coin specialist. It was fine enough to attract worldwide attention, and buyers flew in from across the country to attend the live preview. The two-day, 800-lot auction presented a full decade of proof seated dollars from the 1860s. More rare finds included an 1882 Proof 66 trade dollar that realized $16,800.
