Binghamtons Annual Antiques Show Has New Name And Mission
Antiques Show To Take Place April 23 And 24
April 01, 2022
For the past 37 years, the Binghamton Sertoma Club produced what was called the Million Dollar Antiques Show as a fundraiser to support Camp Sertoma, a local day camp for kids, as well as other charities supporting the Sertoma Mission pertaining to speech and hearing disabilities. Sadly, after the 2019 event, the Binghamton Sertoma Club decided to discontinue the show. Having dug its roots deeply into the Southern Tier of New York for support and sponsorships, as well as the antiquing community, the embers of this fundraising event have been rekindled. This once annual event now has a new name and a new mission. The show is now called the Binghamton Shriners Antique Show, and the new mission is to primarily support the Shriners Hospital for Children in Springfield, Mass., as well as reinforce local Shrine organizations in their charitable endeavors. Chip Hunt, who has been involved with the antiques show since its beginning in 1982 and promoter since 1995, and John Darrow (Mason and Shriner), longtime member of the community, local historian, and long-standing participating dealer, have reorganized the show. The dates will be Saturday and Sunday, April 23 and 24, and the event will be held at the shows former location, the SUNY Broome Ice Arena at 907 Upper Front St., Binghamton, N.Y. Show hours will be 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday. Admission will be $8 per person. The show will host 85 vendors featuring a labyrinth of estate jewelry, early American furniture, primitives, European and Asian antiques, crystal, porcelain, advertising, textiles, oriental rugs, coins, watches, postcards, eclectic oddities, vintage collectibles, plus much more.
