Bodnars To Offer Two-Day Online-Only Auction Featuring The Estate Of Tiffany George
Art Glass, Lighting, Clocks, And More To Be Sold June 22 And 23
June 17, 2022
The estate of Tiffany George will be sold by Joe Bodnar of Bodnars Auction over two days on Wednesday and Thursday, June 22 and 23. George attended Joe Bodnars first auction in 1994 and was a staple in the front row. He bought the first Tiffany lamp at that sale, and the rest was history, as he was hooked on buying the best art glass and lighting that came through Bodnars for over 25 years. The estate is packed with Tiffany, Lalique, clocks, art, sterling, Erte, bronzes, figurines and other decorative art items. This will be the first of several sales of his collection. Bodnars is honored to take his collection and pass it on to a new generation of collectors to cherish what he loved, above all, Tiffany. Growing up in Sayreville and South Amboy, Georges home was filled with antique finds from auctions all over the state of New Jersey. The first time I delivered a large auction purchase I remember even his kitchen sink had Tiffany shades just sitting there! commented Joe Bodnar. His home was like a museum. His son kept many items to remember his dad, but his home too is full and (he) wanted to see his fathers collections find new homes, said Bodnar. Day one on will feature over 200 pieces of art from several local estates including Tiffany Georges estate and art from the collection of a retired doctor. Highlights for this session feature an oil-on-canvas by Ivan Theys (Belgian 1936-2005) titled Zelf Portnet met Minese, estimated at $2,000-$4,000, despite its appraisal of $65,000. Additional works will include an oil-on-board titled The Above Splendor by Contessa Antonia Mastrocristina Sirena (1929-2006) will be estimated at $2,000-$4,000; an oil-on-board by Louis Escobedo (American b. 1952) titled Grandeur, $1,000-$3,000; several works by Nicola Simbari (Italian 1927-2012); as well as Old Masters like an oil-on-canvas by Fredrick Jerald Kinnard (UK 1844-84) depicting a woman with child beach scene estimated at $800-$1,200. Besides these artists, other works sold will include those by Fazzino, Anatole Krasnyansky, H. Leung, Jules Garson, Leslie Lew, Heinie Hartwig, William Harnden, Tarkay, Theo Tobias, Salvador Dali, Susan Marx, Denis Paul Noyer, Erte, Peter Max and others. Furniture from Georges estate will also be included on day one, featuring several nice pieces of Victorian era material, bronzes, as well as unique fireplace items. Many sets of Quezal shades include pairs and as many as six matched shades. Arts and Crafts table bases, stained glass lamps that are Tiffany quality, and Pairpoint, Miller and other manufactures will be offered. Several signed Tiffany bases will also be represented, like a nice bronze desk lamp and a pair of bronze three-tier table lamps. Other Tiffany items include art glass vases, a pair of Tiffany sterling silver scent bottles, a Sterling silver Tiffany & Co. presentation bowl from the Scroll & Key Society, Yale University, from the 1920s.
