Celebrate George Washingtons Birthday At Rock Ford

The public is invited to celebrate George Washingtons birthday at Rock Ford. This family-friendly celebration, designed for children of all ages, will be held on Sunday, Feb. 9, beginning at 2 p.m., in the Rock Ford Barn. Guests will learn about our nations first President through Colonial games and a story time, enjoy a photo opportunity with George and Martha Washington, and celebrate with birthday cake and ice cream. The cost is $5 per person. Reservations are required. Space is limited to a maximum of 40 guests. Reservations may be made by visiting www.rockford.yapsody.com. Children must be accompanied by an adult during the event. In case of inclement weather, the snow date is Sunday, Feb. 23, at 2 p.m. Proceeds benefit Rock Ford Plantation at 881 Rockford Road, Lancaster, Pa. Built in 1794, Rock Ford was the home of Edward Hand and his family. Hand served as adjutant general to George Washington during the Revolutionary War. The historic property is open for tours Tuesday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. from April to October. It is operated by the nonprofit Rock Ford Foundation.
