November 12, 2021
On Sept. 26, Cordier Auctions hosted an online auction to benefit the Art Association of Harrisburg and the Humane Society of Harrisburg Area. Artwork from the collection of the late Raymonde R DeSabres Plaut was offered. R loved both art and animals, and one of her final wishes was for her art collection to benefit these two causes. R was the owner of The Four Winds gallery in Harrisburg and also a longtime exhibiting artist with a distinct expressionist style. Rs collection of artwork brought over $16,000, which was split between the Art Association of Harrisburg and the Humane Society of Harrisburg Area. The mission of the Humane Society of Harrisburg Area is to build a better community for pets and people through compassion, protection, and collaboration. We are grateful for the exquisite team at Cordier Auctions and R DeSabres ingenuity with this wonderful gift that allows fellow art lovers to enjoy her works well into the future while at the same time blessing two community organizations close to her heart, commented Humane Societys executive director Amy Kaunas about the gift. The Art Association of Harrisburg is thrilled to be the recipient of the $8,000-plus that was generated. R DeSabres was passionate in her love for art and animals, and the monies generated by the auction, being donated to The Art Association and the Humane Society, would make her very happy indeed, stated Carrie Wissler Thomas, president of the Art Association of Harrisburg. The Art Association of Harrisburg provides opportunities for regional and nationwide artists as well as classes for all ages and skill levels. We are pleased to have been able to collaborate with such worthy organizations to benefit their causes and honor the memory of a treasured local artist. We always welcome the opportunity to support our local community, said David Cordier, of Cordier Auctions. One of Rs acrylic paintings, Midnight Summers Dream, a depiction of a figure in a garden setting at night, sold for $600.
