Boltz Auction Company of Lancaster, Pa., will present a special tribute sale to acclaimed Lancaster County artist David Robert Brumbach on Thursday, Sept. 10. The live and online auction will feature works spanning Brumbachs artistic career, among work from other notable Lancaster County artists. Born in Lititz on Nov. 21, 1948, Brumbach became one of the regions most admired artists before his untimely death on Feb. 27, 1992. An honors graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design, he returned to Lancaster County and established an artistic career that earned the admiration of collectors, fellow artists and the community. In addition to his technical skill, elegant treatment of light and ability to work in both realistic and abstract styles, his paintings are known to capture the landscapes, architecture and distinctive character of Lancaster County. The auction will include early student works as well as pieces completed later in Brumbachs life. Together, they offer a rare look at the development of his talent and creative vision, and the sale serves as an opportunity to acquire a variety of works. Featured works include historic Moravian Church, an original Brumbach watercolor composition, and Orange and Blue Landscape, an acrylic painting on board. The two works illustrate the range of Brumbachs artistic vision, from recognizable regional subjects to more expressive uses of color and form. Also included in the sale are numerous mixed media works offered from his estate to the public for the first time. The David Brumbach Tribute Auction, which will include other leading regional artists, will be held at Boltz Auction Company, which specializes in southeastern Pennsylvania fine art.
