Decorative Arts Lead Locatis October Sale
Navajo Third Phase Chief's Blanket Sells For $3,200
December 01, 2023
Locati LLC, located in Pineville, Bucks County, Pa., held its October online-only auction on the 15th and featured nearly 500 lots from Bucks County, Philadelphia, Manhattan, and New Jersey estates and collections. We had strong participation in this auction, both domestically and internationally, stated co-owner Michael Locati. Decorative arts did particularly well. The leading lot was a Navajo Third Phase Chiefs blanket, which realized $3,200. Some other notable lots included a group of Royal Copenhagen Flora Danica tableware selling for $2,300. In addition, a Coventry Glassworks Lafayette flask sold above estimate for $2,200, a Jacques & Mary Regat bronze brought $2,600, and a Nicola DAscenzo stained glass window of St. John sold for $2,400. Prior to the auction, portrait miniature expert Elle Shushan presented a lecture relating to a collection of over 100 portrait miniatures in the sale. Elle Shushans lecture was the first educational event in our Bucks County facility, and it was a great success, remarked Locati. The portrait miniature highlights included a portrait of Edmund J. Lee selling for $2,600; a portrait miniature of a young boy with a goldfinch, $1,000; and a portrait miniature of a young boy, 19th century, selling for $1,600. This was a wonderful sale to put together, followed Locati. Online bidding was live on LiveAuctioneers, Invaluable, Bidsquare, and Bidspirit.
