On Thursdays, Dec. 7 and 14, the Early Owego Antique Center in Owego, N.Y., will offer a modest glimpse into its department store heritage. From 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. both Thursday evenings, the multi-dealer shop will be presenting SantaLand. Both children and adults can visit with Santa and watch the Lionel trains go round and round during the fun, festive event. Traditionally, the Owego Murray Company presented a Lionel display as well as hosting Santa throughout the holiday season. Today, the shops display does not rival those of days gone by, but the owners and dealers hope it will give children some sense of the excitement the adults who remember it once felt. SantaLand is scheduled to coincide with Moonlight Shopping throughout downtown Owego. Stores will be offering special pricing, refreshments and more.
