February 24, 2023
The Muskegon Museum of Art is excited to present an exhibition featuring over 60 original illustrations from Americas most-loved picture books, Little Golden Books. Golden Legacy: 80 Years of Original Art from Golden Books will be on display at the Muskegon Museum of Art (MMA) from Thursday, Feb. 16, to Sunday, April 30. From the Random House Archives, Golden Legacy: 80 Years of Original Art from Golden Books features illustrations from beloved Golden Book classics such as The Poky Little Puppy, Tootle, Home for a Bunny, The Color Kittens, I Can Fly, and more. For a list of free of charge, family-friendly reading and art events throughout the course of the exhibition, visit the museums website at www.muskegonartmuseum.org. The museum welcomes the Hackley Public Librarys story time as part of the new exhibition. Explore the original illustrations from some of the most popular Golden Books, listen to stories, and take part in sing songs. The activities are intended for ages 0 to 5, and in-person story time is designed to teach early literacy skills to parents and caregivers while children enjoy a fun, interactive atmosphere. The event Super Saturday - Make a Book is scheduled for Saturday, April 8, and includes free admission to the museum, the exhibition, and a make your own book workshop. Golden Legacy: 80 Years of Original Artwork from Golden Books is organized by the National Center for Childrens Illustrated Literature, Abilene, Texas. This exhibition is underwritten by DTE Energy, Mike and Kay Olthoff, and the David and Carol Folkert Family Fund of the Community Foundation for Muskegon County.
