The Jeffrey S. Evans and Associates Fall Fine and Decorative Arts Auction contains a wide selection of diverse material and will include everything from art glass and Continental furniture to African tribal art and fine jewelry. The large auction will take place over two days, Friday and Saturday, Oct. 16 and 17, with in-house, absentee, phone, and live internet bidding available. Day one, beginning at 9:30 a.m., will start the weekend off with a bang and features material from the collection of Ray and Sylvia McAuliffe, Loveland, Ohio; part one of the Bill Sheriff estate collection, Silver Spring, Md.; part three of the Thomas Bredehoft collection, Saint Louisville, Ohio; selections from the Robert and Patricia Ruff collection, Reno, Nev.; a Woodstock, Ga., private collection; property from a Toronto, Canada, private collection; plus others. A wide selection of American and European art glass, over 100 miniature and fairy lamps, scent bottles, antique and modern paperweights, studio glass, and Italian glass will cross the block. Highlights will include a fine French Schneider cameo aquarium vase, a Mt. Washington double-handled lava vase, a Stevens & Williams tri-color peach cameo vase, a Diamond Quilt mother-of-pearl parlor lamp, and an antique St. Louis Crown paperweight. Day two, also beginning at 9:30 a.m., should prove to be equally exciting and features property from the Hunter and Shirley Gaunt estate, Winchester, Va.; the private collection of the late Alvina Breckel of Oley, Pa., and Winnetka, Ill.; part two of the Carl O. Helvie estate, Hampton, Va., to benefit the Carl O. Helvie Holistic Cancer Foundation; a Virginia estate collection; the private collection of Curtis Sampson, Weems, Va.; the Maury Lloyd Hanson Jr. Revocable Trust for the Nature Conservancy, to be used solely for acquisition of land in the Piedmont and Shenandoah Valley areas of Virginia; plus others. A selection of American art pottery; a large collection of vintage Tiffany jewelry, including designer examples by Jean Schlumberger, Paloma Picasso, and Elsa Peretti; paintings, prints, and statuary, including a collection of Old Master-style and other religious art; rare music boxes; Asian material of all types, including Chinese and Japanese porcelain; several fine American table lamps, including examples by Handel and Steuben; a diverse selection of furniture from Baroque to Mid-Modern; and a selection of African tribal art will be sold. Highlights are to include a Bambara Kono mask, with provenance indicating acquisition in 1965 from Segy Gallery in New York City; an Ellsworth Kelly (American, 1923-2015) Cyclamen lithograph (ca. 1966), signed and numbered 43/75, recently discovered in a New York City thrift store; a rare pair of Chinese Export oil-on-canvas landscape paintings (ca. 1860) attributed to Youqua (active 1840-80), each retaining original artists label attached verso and possibly original frame; Joseph Boksay (Ukranian, 1891-1975) oil-on-canvas mountain landscape of impressive size, dated 1938; a seven-piece Japanese Export .950 silver tea and coffee service (ca. 1900), marked for Sanju Saku, Yokohama; and a Rookwood scenic vellum plaque by Leonore Asbury (1866-1933), in original frame retaining typed label attached verso title The Pool.
