Grist Mill Antiques Goes To The Birds
Popular Multi-Dealer Shop Celebrates All Things Birds As Spring Arrives
March 20, 2020
The Grist Mill is taking flight in the month of March with a brilliant display of birds. A cheerful collection of Meissen, Stangl, Lenox, Royal Dux, Lefton and McCoy birds stand out against a backdrop of bird plates, paintings and keepsakes. Among the stars are the bold Stangl birds including warblers, ducks, wrens and parrots. The Stangl birds are native to New Jersey, created from the mid-1940s through the companys closing in 1977 at the iconic Stangl Pottery of Flemingon and later Trenton. A rare lifelike Meissen canary is of finely handpainted hard-paste porcelain and appears ready to burst into song beside goldfinches and bluebirds. In the tradition of Feng Shui, add a figural bird to the home to create an atmosphere of inspiration and freedom. This shop is always buying and stocking the shelves with great new finds. A collection of costume jewelry and accessories including a couture Miriam Haskell belt with an elaborate sparkling decoration on silk with leather backing recently came in. Bakelite treasures have arrived, from a miniature manicure set to a heavy boxed mahjong set. The military case is once again stocked with portraits, insignia and ephemera from around the globe.
