Haddon Heights Antiques Center Celebrates 30th Anniversary
January 13, 2023
The Haddon Heights Antiques Center is proud to be marking the 30th anniversary of its founding back on Jan. 15, 1993. In appreciation for their decades of support, customers are invited to visit the shop between Sunday, Jan. 15, and Saturday, Jan. 21, when a purchase in any amount will entitle them to choose a gift that has been donated by one of the dealers. Barbara Lind, an avid antique collector turned store owner, has seen many changes in the antique business since she took a leap of faith and rented the storefront by the railroad tracks in Barrington, N.J., to turn into Haddon Heights. She has watched prices on particular collectibles rise and fall and rise again. The fear that online auction sites would render brick-and-mortar antique shops obsolete proved unfounded because customers wanted to hold objects in their hands and examine them in person. And even a pandemic that shuttered the shop for several months didnt keep it down. Customers missed the fun of shopping for vintage finds and returned as soon as the doors reopened. Loyal customers are one of the keys to a shops success, but so, too, are loyal dealers. Lind has been able to retain a number of dealers for 20 years or more. And she has been able to attract active dealers who offer a variety of antiques and collectibles, from china and glassware to jewelry and silver, toys and ephemera to holiday decorations. The Haddon Heights Antiques Center, Camden Countys oldest antique center, started with 35 dealers in one space on the first floor. Then it expanded to the second floor. And, finally, it took over another storefront next door. Today, there are over 50 dealers. Winter is a great time to come in out of the cold and visit the Haddon Heights Antiques Center. The store is open seven days a week from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., with extended hours on Friday evening. It is conveniently located just off I-295 and the White Horse Pike.
