Christmas shopping in New York begins the weekend before Thanksgiving on Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 20 and 21, at the Salt City Antiques Show in Syracuse. On that weekend, over 150 exhibiting dealers will be offering their collections to home decorators and Christmas shoppers at the New York State Fairgrounds Horticulture Building. The show didnt take place last year and is now entering its fourth decade, a longtime favorite for upstate collectors and Christmas shoppers regardless of the weather. The shows emphasis is finding great gift ideas for Christmas and Hanukkah. There will be wonderful stocking stuffers, jewelry, and antique furnishings. Dont worry about supply chain issues here, as there is no problem with the supply of great gifts at this show. Connecticut dealer Easter Hill Antiques will offer early furniture and accessories. They also specialize in period chandeliers, candlesticks and silver from the Georgian and Victorian era periods. Look for The Colony Shop of Fayetteville, N.Y., with fine little antiques for home dcor and gift giving, and Horsefeathers Antiques of Delhi, N.Y., with early 19th-century home accessories. Special collections of antique textiles, silver and fine jewelry are a theme for many of the dealers. One of several shows Allman produces in Syracuse, this one is specifically known as the Christmas Shoppers Special. Hours will be 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday. Admission is $8. The dates for the other Syracuse shows are Jan. 15 and 16 and March 12 and 13, 2022. There is free parking and on-site food service.
