John (J.D.) Querry Estate To Headline Claystrong Enterprises Two-Day Americana Auction
Dec. 31 And Jan. 1 Auction Will Be Held In Chambersburg, Pa.
December 18, 2020
Chambersburg is the place for quality Americana enthusiasts on both New Years Eve and New Years Day. Claystrong Enterprises will be holding an auction of over 1,000 lots, much of which comes from the John (J.D.) Querry estate. The sale will take place at the Kauffman Community Center, located at 7289 Ruritan Drive in Chambersburg, Pa. The late Querry of Martinsburg, Pa., was a dealer and collector for 50-plus years. He was an exhibitor at major shows, including the York Show, the Baltimore Show and the Rhinebeck Show. Traveling was a passion for Querry, and he obtained many items during his frequent trips to England, France, Spain and Hong Kong. Yet, Americana was a focus as well English ceramics. Querry served as a curator for the late John DuPont collection, helping him amass a large quantity of Historic Blue Transferware china. This two-day auction will offer a wide array of exquisite antiques including early furniture, paintings, fraktur, blue decorated stoneware, mochaware, spatterware, a Philadelphia tall case clock, early lighting, cast iron, and other items too numerous to mention. Claystrong Enterprises is proud to have been chosen by J.D.s family to curate this premier auction, stated owner Clayton Armstrong. My staff and I are excited to be showcasing some very rare, mint condition items. The John Bell umbrella crock, which is double stamped by the artist, is an example of one of those rare items, stated Armstrong. The auction will be held in-person and online.
