Kelly McClain To Lead The Companys Next Chapter
February 27, 2026
Hakes Auctions, the nations longest-operating pop culture auction house, recently announced the promotion of Kelly McClain to the role of general manager. In this capacity, McClain will lead the company into its next chapter, building on a proud legacy that spans more than half a century. McClains promotion follows the retirement of longtime employee Alex Winter, who announced his departure in December after many years of dedicated service. As of the start of the new year, McClain officially stepped into his new role, bringing with him a deep knowledge of the auction industry and a passion for the business that has been cultivated over his many years with the company. Since joining Hakes Auctions in 2004, he has been an integral part of the organization, most recently serving as consignment director. His strong relationships with consignors and his keen understanding of the industry have been vital in supporting the companys continued growth and success. We are incredibly excited to have Kelly take on this leadership role, said Steve Geppi, owner of Hakes Auctions. His deep knowledge of our business and his genuine enthusiasm for what we do make him the ideal person to guide Hakes into the future. Alex Winter, whose long tenure helped shape the company, expressed his full confidence in McClains leadership and vision: Kelly grew up in the auction business and has spent nearly two decades helping build Hakes into what it is today. He lives and breathes collectibles, understands this industry inside and out, and truly believes in the Hakes brand. He is the right person to carry forward the incredible legacy Ted Hake began in 1967. As general manager, he will oversee the day-to-day operations of Hakes Auctions, ensuring that the company continues to thrive and innovate in an ever-evolving market. Under his leadership, Hakes is poised to continue its tradition of excellence and remain a trusted name in the collectibles world.
