Large Americana Sale Slated For Jeffrey S. Evans
Three Days Of Selling On Tap For Aug. 27, 28, And 29

The Jeffrey S. Evans & Associates Summer Americana Auction contains a true diversity of material and will include everything from rare antiquarian books and vintage advertising to country furniture and figural candy containers. The large auction will take place over three days, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, Aug. 27, 28, and 29, with absentee, phone, internet, and in-house bidding available. The first session, beginning at 9:30 a.m. EST, should start the weekend off with a bang and features property from the collection of Theodore and the late Alvina Breckel; Donna and Wayne Nickum; and the Maury Lloyd Hanson Jr. Revocable Trust for the Nature Conservancy (funds will be used solely for acquisition of land in the Piedmont and Shenandoah Valley areas of Virginia). There will also be property deaccessioned by Washington and Lee University, of Lexington, Va., to benefit the collections fund. The first days offerings will consist of a wide selection of antiquarian books, including many rare first editions; coins, including over 30 gold Krugerrands and Canadian Maple Leafs; Native American and other jewelry; coin silver; a collection of figural napkin rings and other Victorian silverplate; Staffordshire transferware and other ceramics; a collection of Rockingham ware, and more. The day two session, also beginning at 9:30 a.m. EST, should prove to be equally exciting and features property from the collections of Audrey and the late Snootz Lavin; the late Helen Feltner; and Fil (John) and Robbie Graff; the estate of Carl O. Helvie, to benefit the Carl. O. Helvie Holistic Cancer Foundation; among others. There will be a wide selection of country store and advertising, including Breweriana, toys and dolls, a collection of candy containers, and a large collection of glass and china childrens dishes Day three, also beginning at 9:30 am EST, should conclude the weekend successfully and features property from the estate of Ann Vail; the Hunter and Shirley Gaunt estate; selections from the private collection of Susan B. Smith; property deaccessioned by the Mount Vernon Ladies Association, Mount Vernon, Va.; property deaccessioned by the Valentine Museum, Richmond, Va., to benefit collections care, preservation, and future acquisitions; plus others.
