Locati LLC of Pineville, Bucks County, Pa., presented The Americana Collection of C. Thomas Attix Jr. sale on May 19. Participation for the auction came from five competingonline platforms, absentee bids and a strong floor presence. We had a full house for the live auction, commented Michael Locati, co-owner. People made an effort to travel for the auction, and it was great to meet so many friendly and knowledgeablecollectors and dealers, he continued. The sale consisted of 263 quality lots, all Americana with the exception of a small collection of fine antique rugs. We think a collection of this size and quality is a perfect fit for our company, and we prioritize detailedcataloging and enoughpictures to give bidders confidence, remarked Locati. Highlights included a New Jersey girlhood pictorial needlework house sampler, which hammered at $7,250, and a Broderie Perse chintz applique quilt, probably New Jersey, ca. 1835, soared to $15,500. A miniature Pennsylvania Sheraton tiger maple chest, Chester County, had a strong high bid of $5,000, and a Thomas Stretch Philadelphia Queen Anne walnut tall case clock had a healthy bid of $10,000. Prices reported are hammer prices and do not include buyers premium. A Serapi, Heriz, Northwest Persia, 19th century, rug, realized $6,500, and an unusual Pennsylvania Sheraton walnut splay leg stand brought $2,100.
