Mead And Sons Auctioneers Announce Autumn Spectacular Sale For Oct. 19
Weitsman Collection Stoneware To Be Among Featured Items In Auction
October 13, 2023
Since resuming their live auction service in February of this year, Mead and Sons Auctioneers of Owego, N.Y., have served over 70 consignors. Each of these consignments have contained some interesting and wonderful items. We have assembled over 150 lots, from various consignors, in catalogued order, to be sold on Thursday, Oct. 19, said Jim Mead. We are especially proud to have been contacted by our friend and neighbor, Adam Weitsman, to offer five pieces of stoneware from his well-known collection. All proceeds from the sale of the Weitsman consignment will benefit the Tioga County Boys and Girls Club. Mead and Sons is also glad to donate our services for this worthy cause, which the Weitsman family has supported for decades, followed Mead. Autumn Spectacular may sound like a boast, continued Mead. Yet, if you look closely on AuctionZip you will see that we have assembled a remarkable collection of items. Authentic military, general store, toys and pedal vehicles, Native American and Western as well as political items. Quality advertising is also present, featuring tobacco, petroleum, and popular culture items. Of special interest is a fully restored 1920 Chelsea brass ships bell clock, striking eight bells. Other items include a 10-inch cylinder Swiss music box, a 19th-century corner cupboard, primitive dry sinks, a Hoosier cabinet, a Mission hall tree, and a copper-sheathed cupola. This Autumn Spectacular auction of 150-plus lots will be held Thursday evening, Oct. 19, at 5 p.m. in the auction gallery at the Early Owego Antique Center at 43-45 Lake Street, Owego, N.Y.
