Modernist Fernand Leger (1881-1955) Painting Sells For $10,980 At Embassy

Embassy Auctions International held a large sale on Jan. 11 billed as an eclectic estates auction. Eclectic, it was, and prices realized were strong in many categories. Prices include buyers premium. Known for his modernist work, a signed Fernand Leger (1881-1955) Composition gouache-on-paper was the highest selling lot, bringing $10,980. Very collectible among watch buyers, a Dudley Masonic Model 1 pocket watch realized $3,965. An antique Chinese silver necklace with jade lock pendent dating to the Qing Dynasty sold for $2,190; an antique Burmese gilt manscript chest, $1,054; and an oil-on-canvas, The Awakening of Love, by Edouard Bisson (1856-1939), sold for $2,728.
