Nice Variety Sale With Good Results For Witman
More Zook Artwork Hitting The Open Market

Father and son team Luke and Clarke Witman, of Witman Auctioneers in Manheim, Pa., conducted a large varied sale on Feb. 22. Held at Encks Banquet and Conference Center on Lancaster Road in Manheim, the auction on behalf of multiple estates and consignors had 240 registered buyers with consistantly strong results realized. Prices reported include a 10-percent buyers premium. Abner and Aaron Zook three-dimensional sculptural dioramas have been selling well for several years. For anyone interested in seeing a grouping of them, check the Shady Maple Smorgasbord in East Earl, Pa. Witman has sold a lot of them and has more coming up at future sales. The marketplace for them is uniquely geared toward the auction method. An Aaron Zook (mid-size) farm scene of men installing a split rail fence brought $10,450; a small Aaron diorama of four quail sold for $2,090; and a small Aaron diorama of a wren family with birdhouse realized $770. Also sold was an oil-on-board still life painting of a poinsettia, $660. An oak buffet server with claw feet sold for $545; an oak curio cabinet, $330; and an oak two-door bookcase also went for $330. A partial sterling flatware set sold for $610, and a three-foot-tall feather tree sold for $350. The following pictures show a selection of other items and prices realized.
