Original Illustrations Of Popular Childrens Books Will Be On Display

The Muskegon Museum of Art is excited to present an exhibition of illustrations by award-winning visual artist and childrens book author Oliver Jeffers, beginning Thursday, March 14. Oliver Jeffers: 15 Years of Picturing Books is an exhibition that features 80 original artworks from Jeffers most well-known books such as The Day the Crayons Quit, How to Catch a Star, The Incredible Book Eating Boy, and many more. Curiosity and humor are underlying themes throughout Olivers work as an artist and storyteller. His critically acclaimed picture books are wildly popular with over 14 million copies sold worldwide and translated into over 50 languages. This exhibition highlights 80 original artworks from Jefferss picture books throughout his career and offers creative activities for all ages to enjoy. From the first sketches of How to Catch a Star to the alternate covers of Here We Are, the exhibition brings together never-before-seen original artworks alongside the familiar faces of Jefferss worlds. Oliver Jeffers: 15 Years of Picturing Books will be on display from March 14 to May 26. The museum is also partnering with Hackley Public Library for Storytime in the Gallery, an event for children ages 0-5 to listen to stories, sing songs, and explore the illustrations. Storytime in the Gallery will be held at 4 p.m. on Thursdays, March 14, April 11, and May 16.
