Presentation On Revolutionary War Medicine To Be Held At Historic Rock Ford Program Slated For April 20

Historic Rock Ford welcomesThomas Plott as heinterprets Dr. James Craik, the first Physician General of the United States and George Washingtons personal physician and friend. Plott will discuss the medical practices during the Revolutionary War as well as the methods and medical instruments used by doctors in the 18th century. This presentation will be held on Saturday, April 20, at 2 p.m. in the Langmuir Education Room located on the first floor of the Rock Ford Barn, 881 Rockford Road, Lancaster, Pa. Thomas Plott serves as Manager of Character Interpretation at Mount Vernonand has over 30 years of professional acting and directing experience.He has made a career of portraying historical characters from Shakespeare to Da Vinci to John Wilkes Booth. Plott now uses his versatility and skills as both an actor and researcher to depict George Washingtons personal physician Dr. James Craik. General admission tickets are $15 per person. Tickets may be purchased at www.rockford.yapsody.com. Capacity is limited. Proceeds benefit Historic Rock Ford. Built in 1794, Rock Ford was the home of Edward Hand and his family. Hand served as adjutant general to George Washington during the Revolutionary War. The historic property is open for tours from April through October.
