Roadshow-Style Appraisal Event Will Be Held In Oley, Pa., On May 31
By Karl Pass - May 30, 2025
On Saturday, May 31, the Oley Valley Heritage Association will conduct an Antiques Roadshow-style appraisal event. This fundraising effort will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. under the small pavilion at the Oley Fairgrounds, located at 26 Jefferson St. in Oley, Pa. The public is invited to bring antiques and collectibles such as old textiles, artwork, pottery, baskets, fraktur, dolls, and toys, among other items. The cost will be $5 per item, and all proceeds go the nonprofit group. The panel of appraisers will be Ron Pook, Brian Hart, and Chris Papadakis. The Oley Valley Heritage Association can trace is roots to a water loss incident to the Oley Valley in the late 1970s. As part of a strategy to combat this environmental threat, a concerned citizens group sought protection through the National Trust for Historic Preservation. Oley Township was subsequently selected for the trusts rural project in 1980. It took three years to survey the historic landmarks in the township and prepare the application. In 1983, the entire township was listed on the National Register of Historic Places. This was the largest nomination of its kind. After the National Trust project ended, the Oley Valley Heritage Association was incorporated to continue the mission. For more information, visit oleyvalleyheritage.org.
