Roadside America Mementos Auction Slated To End Feb. 27
Online-Only Sale Marks Second Liquidation Event For Once Historic Landmark

Another Roadside America sale is in the works. Bill Howze of the Renaissance Auction Group will hold another sale of memorabilia from the shuttered Shartlesville, Pa., landmark attractions Roadside America and Pennsylvania Dutch Gift Haus. As with the 2021 sale, all lots start at $5 and sell to the highest online bidder. The sale will close Sunday evening, Feb. 27, beginnning at 6 p.m. The catalog is currently online, and bidding is open through www.hibid.com. Material to be sold comes from the Roadside America main display, including model scale buildings, O-gauge cars, bridges, roadways, walkways, fencing, utility poles, lamp posts, cast metal figures and animals, miniature billboards, layout accessories, painted landscape panels, track, and trees, among other features. Vintage items from the Roadside America display cabinets include railroad lanterns, salt and peppers, pitchers, trays, mugs, cups, shot glasses, postcards, textiles, and petrified wood. From the Roadside America gift shop, NOS Lionel and Bachman model train cars, postcards, magnets, and old time games are included, and items from the Roadside America maintenance shop will feature vintage signage, sound equipment, electron tubes, lighting, and landscaping materials. Interesting items from the Pennsylvania Dutch Gift Haus include Pennsylvania license plates from 1907-60 (sold individually), various vintage Pennsylvania German decorative items, Anthonys dairy table top cream bottles, and items from the personal collections of the Heinsohn family representing multiple categories.
