Sarasota Estate Auction To Hold Big Two-Day Sale

Fine Art, Steuben Glass, And Chinese Porcelain Among Highlights Of 1,300-Lot Auction On June 12 And 13

June 04, 2021

Andrew Ford, auctioneer of the Sarasota Estate Auction, will conduct a two-day auction sale on Saturday and Sunday, June 12 and 13, featuring exceptional art from world-renowned Russian expatriates Mihail Chemiakin and Leonid Purygin and also a special early 20th century oil painting of San Francisco Bay by William Alexander Coulter. The two-day, 1,300-lot sale will also feature more than 100 pieces of Steuben and Qing Dynasty porcelain art tile plaques. There are many satirical works from the two Russians. Mihail Chemiakin is represented by four oils made during his time in this country. Chemiakins works are estimated from $30,000 to as much as $50,000. Leonid Purygins work is a very large piece of an unusual animal in tears. An Emile Gruppe oil-on-canvas, Fall Foliage, in original frame, is another noteworthy lot. Among the leading pieces in the sale is a William Alexander Coulter scene of San Francisco Bay. The two-day sale will include a Tiffany Nautilus lamp in excellent condition. Qing Dynasty porcelain tiles, framed as fine art, are among the offerings. Other Chinese art includes a centuries old round bronze box in gilt. More than 100 pieces of French estate jewelry will be offered as well. There are multiple sterling silver hollowware and flatware collections from American and European makers. Additionally, the fine Steuben glass will include both functional and art pieces. Bidding will be online through liveauctioneers, invaluable, bidsquare, The Saleroom, and iCollector, and also directly through left bids and phone bidding. Sarasota Estate Auction Gallery is located at 522 S. Pineapple Ave., Sarasota, Fla. To contact, call 941-359-8700. To learn more, visit www.sarasotaestateauction.com.
