May 31, 2024
Turning 50 only happens once, and for Carlisle Events, that 50th anniversary celebration kicked off in high fashion with Spring Carlisle 2024, held April 17 to 21 at the Carlisle Fairgrounds. This years event was driven by Hemmings and welcomed nearly 100,000 guests from around the world. They came to Carlisle to buy cars within the car corral, to shop for parts and more within the automotive flea market, to meet up with friends, and to celebrate a milestone. In all, the collective energies within the Carlisle fence line helped solidify exactly why this event and others have been around for so long. Gates opened bright and early on day one, with the crowds steadily picking up into the afternoon. Day two had a better turnout as shopping sped towards Friday and the weekend. In addition to a nice influx of guests on the second day, the start of the two-day collector car auction began powered by Carlisle Auctions (more on that below). Along with the mix of vendors, small and large, within the automotive flea market, Spring Carlisle also hosted a robust Manufacturers Midway. The midway welcomed some of the top names in the hobby, including Hemmings, American Collectors Insurance, Amsoil, the AACA Museum, Adams Premium Car Care products, CPI Truck, and more. These vendors, along with dozens more, drew shoppers in with quality displays, the chance to buy items in person to save on shipping costs, and, best of all, show-only pricing. Day three on Friday saw guests dodge a few raindrops, while Mother Nature changed her tune on Saturday and Sunday, offering two clear and nice weather days in conjunction with last-minute shopping for locals who cruised in to be part of the fun. In fact, everyone who came to Carlisle had fun with the classic car display on stage by way of the AACA Car Club, the ARMO Hot Products Showcase in front of the stage, the all-new 50th Anniversary timeline display wall in Building T, and even a memorabilia room, also located in Building T. The classic and collector car auction at the Carlisle Expo Center had 400-plus lots crossing the block, with the top five sales amassing $465,600. The top seller was a 1980 Porsche 911 ($101,000), and sales two through four were Corvettes. Number five stayed in the Chevy family as a 1970 Chevelle realized $88,480.
