Super Bowl Weekend Political Collectors Gathering Set Political Collectors to Gather in Titusville, N.J., on Feb. 10
February 02, 2024
Collectors of political buttons, badges, ribbons, posters and related ephemera will meet in Titusville, N.J., on Saturday, Feb. 10, to sell, trade and display memorabilia from the most recent campaigns, as well as from political campaigns throughout the centuries. This annual gathering is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Union Fire Co. Ballroom. Attendees can expect to see a wide variety of political items, ranging from 2024 presidential-campaign buttons to items from former presidents such as Teddy and Franklin Roosevelt, Harry Truman, Dwight Eisenhower and Ronald Reagan. Dealers also bring items related to sports, advertising, civil rights, military and related topics. The gathering will be hosted by the local chapter of the American Political Items Collectors (APIC), a national nonprofit hobbyist association dedicated to preserving political history. Our meetings offer a great opportunity for young and old alike to see and learn about real artifacts used by candidates throughout our nations many elections, according to Tony Lee, a Titusville resident and president of APICs Big Apple Chapter. Most political items dont survive the elections in which they were used, so to see an I Like Ike apron or a Ronald Reagan cowboy hat or a clothing button worn at George Washingtons inauguration and inscribed with Long Live the President is a great experience for students of political history at any age. The Union Fire Co. Ballroom is located at 1396 River Road (Route 29) in Titusville, N.J., alongside the Delaware River. Ample free parking is available. Admission to the event will be $3 for each adult. Any child 12 years or younger will enter free of charge. To encourage a lifelong love of political history and collecting, each child will receive assorted buttons, free of charge, to start his or her own personal collection. Free appraisals will be offered for all political items brought in by the general public. The public may also bring items for auction, with a commission rate of 10 percent of the overall sale.
