The Jeff Jacob Action Figure Collection Part Four A 1983 Star Wars AT-AT Imperial All Terrain Armored Vehicle Speeds To $50,762

March 27, 2026

The Jeff Jacob Collection continued its march into the history books on Feb. 4, as Hakes auctioned Part IV of the Colorado-based consignors trove of Star Wars, GI Joe and other rare and sought-after toys. Chalking up $844,000, the latest offering boosted the series subtotal so far to a heady $4.4 million, with the fifth and final installment of action figures from the stellar collection set to cross the auction block later this year. The Feb. 4 event was led by a daunting Kenner Star Wars: Return of the Jedi (1983) AT-AT Imperial All Terrain Armored Transport Vehicle, AFA 85 NM+, with its original pictorial box. At the time of cataloging, it was confirmed to be one of only eight examples in an AFA 85 grade, per the current AFA Population Report, with none graded higher. It ambled its way to a jaw-dropping $50,762 against a pre-sale estimate of $4,000 to $8,000. A lot consisting of 114 Star Wars action figures produced from 1977 to 1985 represented the 92-figure set Kenner produced for its Star Wars, The Empire Strikes Back, Return Of The Jedi, and The Power Of The Force toylines, with the addition of some variants and two figures by Lili Ledy (Mexico). Each loose figure was encapsulated and individually graded by AFA. It was the first time a complete set of this type had ever come to auction, a fact that was not missed by collectors, who bid the assemblage to a hefty $48,871 against an estimate of $25,000 to $35,000. A Palitoy Star Wars: Return of the Jedi (1984) Boba Fett tri-logo 70 Back (Parker) displayed text in three languages (English, Spanish and French) and was AFA-graded 75 Ex+/NM (light blue/unpainted knee/Clipper mini-catalog). At the time of cataloging, it was one of only two examples graded by AFA, according to current AFA Population Report, and was also the single highest-graded example. It flew past its $5,000 to $10,000 estimate to land at $38,137. Two Kenner spacecraft that would have fueled childrens imaginations in the early 1980s easily exceeded their estimates. A 1980 Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back Millennium Falcon Spaceship, one of the top pieces in the Empire Strikes Back range, was graded AFA 85 NM+. Unheard of in this condition, with no example of its type and grade ever having appeared before in a Hakes auction, it was one of only two graded 85 NM+, per the current AFA Population Report. Against an estimate of $10,000 to $20,000, it rose to a selling price of $25,076. The second of the two elite Kenner spaceship lots was Boba Fetts Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back (1981) Slave I craft. As described on its box, its features and accessories included Gravity Operated Wings, Removable Slide, Clicking Cannons, Opening Rear Ramp, Movable Seat and Simulated Frozen Han Solo. A coveted toy, both at the time of its release and in todays collector marketplace, it was AFA-graded Uncirculated U85 NM+, with only three toys of its type ever having been given a higher grade, per the current AFA Population Report. Estimated at $5,000 to $10,000, it sold for $19,567. Among the Hasbro GI Joe highlights was a 1983 encapsulated case with a sealed baggie containing a 3.75-inch-tall action figure of Duke (First Sergeant, with holed helmet) in a Duke mailer box, graded AFA 80 NM. It was complete with a GI Joe To The Rescue booklet and a Manta Marine Assault Nautical Transport: Air Driven mail-away offer. At the time of cataloging, it was the only AFA-graded example, per to current AFA Population Report. It sold for $3,944, more than four times its high estimate.
