The Pewter Collectors Club Of America (PCCA)
May 22, 2026
The Pewter Collectors Club of America (PCCA) held its annual Spring Meeting from April 24 to April 26 at the Double Tree in Dayton/Fairborn, Ohio. It was deemed a great success and fun according to members. The meeting was well attended, and the attendees heard about Ohio-made Pewter on both days. After dinner on Friday evening, Al Scheer, vice president of the PCCA, spoke about the Sellew Family, an entrepreneurial family who established pewter making in Ohio in the mid-1800s. On Saturday morning, there were talks about the relationship between pewter by Sellew and Homan. Both firms were working in Cincinnati, and speakers compared their wares to pewter manufactured by The Boardman Company in Hartford, Conn. The talks were presented by club members Gary Wiggens, Louis Cassens, and Al Scheer. On Saturday afternoon, club members were free to explore the area, and many visited the National Airforce Museum. Others opted to visit local antique malls. Saturday nights program began with the popular Show and Tell portion conducted by Eric Lanka, past president of the club, where members brought interesting items from their collections for the group to view and discuss. Following, members were treated to a presentation by Amelia Jeffers, owner and operator of the auction firm Amelia Jeffers Auctioneers & Appraisers in Columbus. The presentation, titled Dispersing Ones Collection via Public Auction, generated quite a bit of interest and discussion. The official meeting ended Saturday evening. However, on Sunday morning, members Bob and Arlene invited all who were interested to come to their home in Dayton for brunch and to view their extensive pewter collection. Contact Greg Aurand at gdaurand@gmail.com for additional details on the organization. Membership dues are $60. The PCCA is a nonprofit organization established to encourage, develop, and foster the study, discussion, and collecting of pewter. For further information, visit www.pewtercollectorsclub.org.
