U.S. 12 Piece Gold Type Coin Set Realizes $13,200

Witman Auctioneers Inc., Manheim, Pa., held an auction on Nov. 14, at 664 Fruitville Pike, Manheim, which included a variety of quality coins (old and new), guns, pocket watches, and old baseball cards. The following prices were realized: The highest grossing lot was a U.S. 12-piece gold type coin set bringing $13,200. A 1924 $20 St. Gaudens gold coin sold for $1,980; a 1986 $50 gold coin, $1,980; a collection of U.S. large cent coins, $2,090; and an 1880 $10 gold coin went for $1,045. A book of Liberty silver half dollars sold for $605; a large 1923 series Red Seal note, $358; an 1884 Carson City silver dollar, $330; and a Lancaster Conestoga National Bank $10 note realized $231. A Henry Atkin Purdeys double barrel shotgun sold for $4,180; a Winchester Model 42 skeet shotgun brought $2,365; and two Winchester Model 42 pump shotguns sold for $2,200 and $1,815. A Masonic Dudley pocket watch realized $2,035, and an Elgin National pocket watch, $880. In the basecall card category, a Cy Young M116 card sold for $1,540.
