Witman Sells Mechanicsburg Estate

Jacob Gorgas Tall Clock Sells For $6,400

Witman Auctioneers Inc., of Manheim, Pa., held an auction on Feb. 16 for Ernest Ober at 1034 W. Trindle Road, Mechanicsburg, Pa., with 296 registered bidders. This was a multi-generation estate sale consisting of antiques, tools, firearms, furniture, textiles, and farm-related equipment. The following were a few prices realized: a Case 1835 C skid loader went for $11,100. An International 56 two-row corn planter sold for $690. A Mill foremans desk went for $345; a Windsor comb-back chair, $515; a Jacob Gorgas tall case clock, $6,400; a walnut corner cupboard, $3,500; and an oak Hoosier kitchen cabinet, $600. A Winchester Model 94 32 cal. rifle sold for $890; a Winchester Model 88 308 cal. rifle, $860; and a Marlin Model 25 22 rifle sold for $400. A Singer Featherweight sewing machine sold for $265, and a Dietz PRR lantern, $220. A Kieffer and Auxer wood plane went for $205; a 1798 spinning wheel, $195; and a J. B. Stohler post hole axe, $195.
