Witman Sells Two Zook Dioramas

Witman Auctioneers Inc., Manheim, Pa., conducted an auction on Jan. 22 at 6 Pine St., Mount Joy. The following highlighted prices were realized. An Aaron Zook (1921-2003) three-dimensional diorama winter scene of a covered bridge realized $15,400. An Abner Zook (1921-2010) three-dimensional diorama winter scene depicting ice skaters sold for $8,800. The identical twin brothers were Amish and born in 1921 to Amos and Anne (King) Zook in Lancaster. Their prolific output was mostly done in the 1980s. A Sterling silver Wallace flatware set brought $2,530, while another Sterling flatware set realized $990. Ned Foltz is a redware potter in Reinholds, Pa. A redware face jug by Foltz went for $550, while a miniature face jug brought $297. A Foltz redware lidded pumpkin sold for $220, and an Art Shoemaker Uncle Sam carving, $297.
